starting numbers

September 29th, 2012 at 11:58 pm

I am posting a budget for my monthly expenses, this will be refined as I start tracking my actuals. I am assuming that the income stays the same and hoping that there are not any emergencies.

Welcome to SA! It looks like even before cutting expenses you have a good amount of money left over for extra debt repayment and cashflowing the expected expenses(and a few catagories, like cable and goceries, seem like you have some wiggle room). One question- I don't think I saw any scheduled savings for an emergency fund or retirement accounts. How do you handle this?

I am putting 6% of my income into my 401k. Hopefully when I am more caught up and some of the things like the IRS and bike payment drop off, I can increase the contribution

Hello and welcome. You are really off to a great start. I am looking forward to seeing your plans. Based on your employment history (been there, done that)have you decided that your emergency fund is the first priority or are you just trying to stay afloat at this point?
